Ayushman Bharat team to visit State today

Even as the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, introduced during the first Narendra Modi-led NDA regime, was not accepted by the previous Naveen Patnaik Government, the Modi Government-2 seems to have decided to persuade the new BJD Government to implement the “pro-people scheme” in the State this time.

Sources said that an Ayushman Bharat Yojana team led by its Chief Executive Officer Dr Indubhushan is scheduled to arrive here on Tuesday (June 4) for the purpose. Manu Sukla, Aditi Bhargava, Astha Arora and Rohit Deo Jha are the other members of the team.

The team would meet State Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi and hold discussions regarding the issue, added the sources. Notably, the BJD Government is implementing the State-sponsored Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) to provide healthcare support to people in the State. The BSKY provides benefit to the poor up to a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh, which, moreover, is double the amount in the case of women beneficiaries.

The BSKY covers 70 lakh families. The State Government has signed agreements with 218 high-profile hospitals in and outside the State for treatment of patients under the BSKY.
