The Academy of Yoga and Oriental Studies (AYOS) organised a lecture on “Mandukya Upanisad: An Exposition” at the academy’s building at Rameswar Patna here on Sunday with AYOS director Dr Indulata Das as the speaker of the topic.

The meeting was presided over by Satyananda Jena. AYOS member Mihir Kumar Mishra welcomed the guests and the audience.

In her speech, Dr Indulata Das said Upanisads are the first philosophical and spiritual literature not only of India but of the whole world. The light of spiritual knowledge came to the world with the advent of the Upanisads. The number of Upanisads is more than two hundred fifty. But ten out of them are considered to be the major ones. Mandukya Upanisad is the smallest one in size but bears immeasurable importance. It is the first literature in the world to analyse the human consciousness. It is also the Upanisad which analyses the sound vibration of Omkara and identifies the same with the various parts of the human consciousness.

There was a question-answer session after the lecture in which many scholars participated. Satyananda Jena, in his presidential address, said, “The AYOS is serially discussing on various aspects of Indian knowledge. People should avail the opportunity and be acquainted with the real treasures of India which they are not getting in their curriculum.”

Mihir Kumar Mishra thanked the audience and the guests.
