'Autocrat' CM ran away from Assembly: BJP

PNS

The BJP on Tuesday charged that “autocrat” Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his Government ran away from the Assembly by adjourning the House prematurely to avoid Opposition attack.

Strongly countering the statement of the CM outside the State Assembly just after the Speaker adjourned the House sine die ahead of four days of the schedule, BJP State president Basant Panda told reporters here that the ruling party did not take the House into confidence while it was in Session.

“After the Assembly was adjourned, the Chief Minister made a media statement

outside the House, not inside it, blaming the Opposition for continuous disturbances. This is unfortunate and the BJP condemns it,” said Panda.

“There are several issues like water scarcity and shortage of doctors and teachers the State is facing. These issues need to be discussed in the Assembly. But they (BJD) did not take up these issues. They have stifled the democracy as they are in the majority. This is an example of mean politics,” alleged Panda.

Panda said the Chief Minister has turned a blind eye and killed democracy.

“The premature end of the Assembly has proved the autocracy of the Chief Minister and his Government. The BJD leaders are on the view that their leader won’t speak or respond to the Opposition’s questions and demands may what it be,” alleged Panda.

He said that the autocracy of the BJD, which has 117 members in the 147-seat Assembly, would be strongly denounced by the people.
