A Government official fell into the Vigilance net here on Saturday for possessing a huge amount of unaccounted cash.
The accused was identified as Artabandhu Rout, Assistant Audit Officer of the ST/SC Development Department. Vigilance officials recovered cash of Rs 7.29 lakh from his possession.
According to reports, a team of Vigilance sleuths intercepted Rout near Jeypore while he was on his way back to Bhubaneswar after conducting an audit of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) in Malkangari.
He was detained with unaccounted cash for interrogation. He failed to explain the source of the cash he was carrying. His houses in Bhubaneswar and other places came under Vigilance search.
