The Campaign for Survival and Dignity (CSD), which is campaigning for establishment of Gram Sabha Sarkar in the line of FRA Gram Sabha in all villages of the State, on Sunday condemned the attack on lok Shakti Abhiyan president Prafulla Samantara.
While Samantara was returning from a meeting held at Masiput in Koraput district in protest against bauxite mining on the Dangadeula Hill, about 10 hired persons attacked him, alleged the CSD in a statement. The villagers depend on this hill for grazing of their domestic animals, firewood and stream water. Meanwhile, Samantara alleged that an industrial house has always engaged miscreants and musclemen to attack him physically. “This is nothing but criminalisation of corporate regime. This is fourth time that I have been attacked,” he said.
The CSD has urged the State Government to give special protection to Samantara as he is fighting for protection of rights of tribals and community people who are being victimised by corporate house.
