Opposition Congress on Wednesday said it would make chit fund, land and coal scams and farmer suicides as issues to take on ruling BJD during the winter session of the State Assembly beginning on Thursday.

“The Congress has a host of issues in hand to corner the ruling BJD. Similarly, it is all set to give an constructive opposition while it cannot tolerate the Chief Minister’s dictatorship in the House,” said leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra after chairing Congress legislature Party (ClP) meeting in the Assembly premises here.

Mishra said his party would raise chit fund scam in the House as a main issue. “The Chief Minister is yet to react Minister Dr Damodar Rout’s statement that the Seashore chit fund company was running with the Government patronage. From this, it is evident that the chit fund scam committed in Chief Minister’s knowledge,” Mishra alleged.

Similarly, he alleged that the CM is directly involved in the coal scam as he had recommended a coal mine in favour of Hindalco.

Commenting on land scam, Mishra said, “The scam is not limited to Bhubaneswar only. BJD leaders and workers have encroached Government land across the State.”

He said more and more farmers committing suicide during the BJD regime.

“The State Government has not been procuring paddy from farmers over the years. Affected with natural calamities, the loan-burdened farmers are being forced to commit suicide,” he said. Mishra also said his party would raise unemployment and law and order issues to counter the Government in the Assembly.
