The Winter Session of the Odisha legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die on Thursday ahead of 16 days and 15 scheduled working days.
The House was adjourned soon after the Appropriation Bill on the First Supplementary Budget of `6,104, 06,08,000 was passed after a marathon discussion on the day.
Initiating discussion on the Bill, leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra came down heavily on the State Government saying the 17-year-old BJD Government has failed to provide safe drinking water to people, education to children, minimum healthcare to women and children and water for irrigation.
He termed the Government as directionless and incompetent. He criticised the Chief Minister for not remaining present in the House. “The CM has created a world record for not participating in debates or giving his views on any issue in the House,” he remarked.
Mishra held the Chief Minister responsible for the issues like Mahanadi and Polavaram.
BJP’s Pradip Purohit said the State is defamed on several issues during the Naveen Patnaik Government’s 17 years’ rule and the Government has burdened the State with a loan of Rs 64,000 crore and each person with Rs 14,500.
BJD members like Bed Prakash Agrawal and Anant Das refuted the charges. Amidst uproars, the Appropriation Bill was passed by a voice vote.
