A Commissionerate police ASI was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly molesting a minor girl at Chandradeipur village under the Salepur police station in Cuttack district.
The accused was identified as Krushna Chandra Jena, who is presently posted at the Badambadi police station in Cuttack.
Sources said the girl’s family had taken the house of the ASI at Chandradeipur on rent for the last five years. On March 3, the ASI went to their house and sexually abused the 11-year old girl after finding her alone in the house.
Following the incident, the mother of the minor lodged an FIR at the Salepur police station.
A case under Sections 354 (sexual harassment), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 of IPC, 8/10 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO Act) registered against the accused ASI, sources said.
