Asha workers cease work in Subarnapur

PNS

Asha workers have stopped their duties in Subarnapur district. They have informed their CHC in-charges about their staying away from the national leprosy programme.

The Asha workers of the district had held a meeting at Sonepur on Wednesday and discussed about the new payment of incentive provisions for undertaking different activities including assured activities for getting a minimum incentive of Rs 1,000 per month.

“We are getting the remuneration for our works relating to vaccination, Gaan Kalyan Samiti, etc. The Government has declared an incentive of Rs 1,000 for us, which is like old wine in new bottle,” said an Asha Worker, Mamata Panda. Some Asha Workers’ leaders met social worker lalit Nayak to let their demands be communicated to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The demands include Asha houses in every CHC and Rs  1,000 as allowance.  They said they would not rejoin in work till their demands are fulfilled.
