In an achievement against the illegal arms trade, the Crime Branch’s Special Task Force (STF) busted a gunrunning racket and arrested two persons in this connection in the Chandaka area, on the outskirts of the city on Friday.
Acting on inputs, a STF team conducted a raid in Chandaka area and nabbed the two accused and seized two pistols, five revolvers, a single barrel gun and live bullets from their possession.
The accused duo Rakesh and Bikash would be interrogated to find out the network of the racket, said Crime Branch ADG Soumendra Priyadarsshi.
“The investigation is in primary stage now. We will seek remand of the two arrested after producing them before court and further investigate into the matter,” Priyadarshi said.The crackdown against the flow of illegal firearms would continue, added the ADG.
