Eminent architect and teacher Prof Kunja Bihari Mohapatra was conferred with the prestigious Visveswaraya Award for the current year here on Sunday.
The award, instituted by the Odisha Engineers’ Forum, is the only award in the country conferred on engineers of national eminence. “The award is, therefore, aptly named after Bharat Ratna Sir M Visveswaraya,” said forum chairman Pravakar Swain.
Former Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court Justice RK Patra honoured Prof Mohapatra with the award at a glittering function held here on the occasion of the Engineers’ Day. The function was addressed, among others, by MPs Ramachandra Khuntia and Sashibhushan Behera and engineers M Vijaywargia of IOCl and Rajesh Jha of Utkal Alumina.
