The Bharatiya Vikash Parishad on Friday moved the Orissa High Court seeking a probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into the huge assets acquired by the arrested honey-trapper Archana Nag and her husband Jagabandhu Chand within a short span of time.

It has also sought confiscation of the properties of the couple.

Filing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), the Bharatiya Vikash Parishad has made the Central Government, ED, Odisha Chief Secretary, Home Department, Odisha DGP, Khandagiri police station IIC and Nayapalli police station IIC parties in the case.

The petitioner further urged that all the persons whose names have come up in the scandal should be brought under the purview of the investigation.

In another development in the case, Archana moved the SDJM Court in Bhubaneswar for bail. Earlier, Archana attended the hearing through videoconferencing as her lawyer was yet to be finalised.

Notably, the Commissionerate police arrested her on October 2. During probe, it was ascertained that she owns properties worth more than Rs 30 crore, which she acquired allegedly by extortion from politicians, businessmen and bureaucrats.

Her properties included a palatial building in Bhubaneswar, a fleet of luxurious cars and several other costly possessions. She even floated a couple of companies.
