Archana bail plea: HC seeks case diary from police

PNS

The Orissa High Court, hearing the bail plea of honey-trap and extortion racket accused Archana Nag, has sought the case diary from the Commissionerate police.

Archana had moved the court for bail in connection with the case filed by film producer Akshay Parija at the Nayapalli police station after the Bhubaneswar Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court-3 had rejected her bail application on November 30, 2022.

Archana was arrested by the police based on the complaint by Parija alleging blackmailing and extortion. She had allegedly demanded Rs 3 crore from him threatening him of making his objectionable videos and photographs with a woman public.

In December 2022, the police had filed a charges-sheet against her before the JMFC Court-3 in the case. The 501-page chargesheet was submitted against Archana under Sections 384, 385, 388, 389, 500, 506 and 120-B of the IPC and Sections 66E, 67 and 67A of the I-T Act.

Meanwhile, the chartered accountants of Achana and her husband Jagabandhu Chand appeared before the Enforcement Directorate on Friday in connection with the money laundering case against her.
