AP now deploys cops to patrol G’pati village

After having a faceoff with Gajapati officials by an Andhra Pradesh Minister concerning a row over opening an Anganwadi Centre at Manikapatna in Gangabada panchayat of Gajapati district, AP has now deployed armed police forces to stand guard, stoking disturbances in the area.

The round-the-clock police patrolling is directed at thwarting any opposition from the Gajapati district administration to grabbing land in Odisha.

The neighbouring State has already shown its belligerence when its Fisheries and Livestock Minister K Apalaraju dared on September 9 to threaten ADM Gajapati of dire consequences as his attempt to open an Anganwadi Centre, distribute eggs and teach children there were opposed.

Saturday’s visit of Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra to Gajapati district has not sorted out the issue.
