The Children’s Federation began a campaign to stop early girl child marriage among slum dwellers here on Sunday.
The child leaders in four slums of Khodasingi Bauri street and lanjipali Goudabandha street convinced their parent against the scourge of child marriage.
Early girl child marriage has been rampant in Ganjam district.
According to a survey, women married before 18 years are 29.8 per cent in Ganjam which is more than the State average of 21.3 per cent.
According to sources, the DCPU has rescued minor girls in 10 cases in Ganjam since January 2017.
