After the much-publicised  Patnagarh parcel bomb case, a similar crime came to  fore here on Wednesday after  a youth was arrested  by the Rourkela  police on Wednesday allegedly for  trying to kill his cousin.

The arrested youth, a resident of Rourkela, reportedly had gone to Punjab to send the parcel bomb from there to kill his cousin, who resides in Punjab, over a land dispute.

He had sent the parcel bomb from Punjab and the bomb reportedly had exploded in the courier office there wherein two of their staffers were critically injured.

On the lead of Punjab police, the Rourkela police arrested the youth and handed him over to the Punjab police.

The Punjab police took the youth on transit remand.

The accused was identified as Raja Rijwan (42), a resident of Basanti Colony area of Rourkela. He reportedly had some enmity with his cousin, who stays at Moga city of Punjab state. According to sources,

Raja was reportedly influenced by the technique of the much publicized Patnagarh parcel bomb incident and had developed an idea to finish his cousin through a parcel bomb.

Accordingly, after developing a parcel bomb, he reportedly had reached Moga on September 26 and handed over the parcel in a local courier there.

The parcel bomb however had exploded during handling by courier staffers at the courier office only on the same day there, in which two staffers were critically injured.

Sources said Moga police after an investigation could come to know involvement of Raja.

Accordingly, a team of Moga police had reached at Rourkela on Tuesday and had met Rourkela SP Uma Shankar Dash, requesting for his support.

"On the direction of Rourkela SP, special squad police of Rourkela and plant site police had launched a manhunt to nab Raja and he was nabbed on Wednesday from Traffic gate area of the city," said Plantsite police station IIC Upendra Pradhan.
