Another mass stir needed for social equality: Agnivesh

PNS

We need to have another mass movement to set the society right, said Swami Agnivesh here.

He said that the trading of alcohol and drugs  is flourishing every nook and corner in the State often acting a trigger for communal and political violence. The farmers and labourers are still languishing in poverty. The dreams that Mahtma Gandhi had seen before undertaking Satyagraha  for a complete independence is still far from realities  due to  the persisting evils of inequalities  and injustices. Therefore, there is a need of another movement to realize the dreams, Agnivesh said.

He was addressing people on the occasion of observation of annual day of ‘Maa Ghara’, Baleswar chapter and celebration of centenary of the Champaran Satyagraha here on Saturday.  “Everyone is equal, irrespective of caste, colour , creed or religion. The political parties and their leaders are dividing the society and creating a rift in society and trying to take the advantages of the divide. There is spurt of atrocities against women along with increase of business in alcohol and drugs,” Agnivesh said.

lok Sevak Mandal chairman Dipak Malvya  said there was no change  in the society  even after exit of British people . Whose ever were voted to power worked against the common good of society, he opined. Several others including Ranji Singh, Pancham Bhai, Arun Dey, Mahendra Gpta, Sulata Deo and Pritinanda Routray were among others addressed the gathering. Maa Ghara foundation chief Rutuparna Mohanty presided. 10 women for their contribution to the society were felicitated.
