PNS

Wild species, who are at present counted 13.6 million as existing on earth, should not survive at human mercy but have rights to live in nature, observed scientist-in-charge of Regional Museum of Natural History (RMNH) GN Indresha, while speaking on the topic ‘Wildlife Conservation: Issues and Challenges’ at the 56th monthly meeting jointly organized by the Odisha Environmental Society (OES) and the Indian Science Congress.

Out of the wild species, human is just one species equal to them but not above them. Nature gives rights to live to all species, continued Indresha, adding as human being is having highest level of intelligence, it is high time for human beings to abide by the laws of nature in protecting the wild species so that the ecosystem is not disrupted and environmental balance is well maintained.

Among others, former VC of Utkal University Prof Satyananda Acharya and OES secretary Dr Jaya Krushna Panigrahi were present.
