An eight-year-old girl, who was allegedly engaged as a domestic help by Angul DCPU (District Child Protection Unit) Child Protection Officer Anuradha Nayak, was rescued from the Bhubaneswar railway station on Sunday night.

Childline officials and the GRP rescued the minor girl from the railway station while she was returning to Nayak's residence from her village after celebrating Raja festival, reports said.

It was alleged that the minor girl, a resident of Prasanti Vihar under the Infocity police station here, was engaged in various household chores and babysitting at the Angul official's house for the past several months.

The girl also alleged that she was beaten up by the woman on several occasions on the ground of negligence of work.

After rescuing the girl, Childline officials lodged a complaint at the Infocity police station on Monday seeking a probe into the matter and necessary action against the accused officer as per law.
