Amend banking laws to curb NPA: Khuntia

PNS

Addressing a rally of the United Forum of Bank Officers and Employees at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on September 15, former MP and INFUC national vice-president Dr Rama Chandra Khuntia urged the Central Government to bring necessary amendments in banking law to check the (nonperforming assets) NPAs and punish the Chairmen and Executive Directors of the banks who are mostly responsible for the NPAs.

Khuntia said the Government’s present policy is only helping the monopoly industrial houses and not the farmers, unemployed youths or general public.

He also said the NDA Government is not taking any strong steps to collect the bank loans taken by industrial houses while on the other hand these houses are setting up new industries and taking over old establishments outside the country to expand their empire worldwide without clearing the NPA in India.

The NDA Government’s policy is anti-worker, anti-farmer and anti-youth and it helps industrialists and business houses, he alleged.

Khuntia assured the workers that INTUC and Indian National Congress Party and its vice-president Rahul Gandhi would always extend full support for the cause of bank officers and employees.
