An ambulance carrying a dead body overturned on the National Highway-16 at Kushagadia near Bhandaripokhari in the district on Monday.
Three family members of the deceased were injured in the incident. Sources said one Parameswar Mishra of Gobindapur village under Dhamnagar block died of cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College Hopsital in Cuttack.
A private ambulance carrying the body was returning to Gobindapur village when it lost control and overturned near Kushagadia.
In the mishap, wife, son and daughter of the deceased, who were also in the ambulance, suffered grievous injuries. They were later rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
