The Markatnagar police on Saturday submitted preliminary chargesheet against Paresh Mohapatra and other nine persons at a local trial court here in the sensational Alakananda Mishra murder case.
They all have been chargesheeted under Section 506 (criminal intimidation), 201(destruction of evidence) and 34(common intention to commit the crime) under the IPC.
The 201-page chargesheet was filed in the SDJM, Cuttack Sadar here detailing the role of Paresh Mohapatra in the murder and point-to-point sequence of events of the sordid crime.
The police examined more than 20 witnesses and kept open the option for filing of the final chargesheet on the basis of DNA reports of Alakananda’s bone collected from cremation ground.
Notably, Paresh had killed Alakananada following a scuffle on July 29. later, with the help of his associates, Paresh cremated her body at Kaliaboda graveyard the same night.
