An international nonscheduled chartered flight of Air China, Boeing 737, landed at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here at 12.15 pm on Thursday. The flight, directly coming from Beijing in China, left for its onward journey to Zanzibar in Africa same day. Notably, the Bhubaneswar airport was awarded with the international status
in October 2013, and since then many international nonscheduled charter flights have operated here. Besides AAI officials, officers from the Customs and Immigration Department were present to handle the international aircraft movement and all necessary preparations were monitored by Bhubaneswar Airport Director Sharad Kumar. Kumar expressed his hope to start scheduled international operations from the airport soon as the AAI has already made elaborate arrangements by upgrading and refurbishing the International Terminal, T2.
