Continuing his party’s tirade against the BJP-led Government at the Centre, arrested Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay on Saturday continued his outburst saying the BJP is behind the CBI arrest of TMC leaders in West Bengal over chit fund scam.

“The BJP is doing this (arrest of TMC leaders) aiming to finish Mamata Banerjee and the TMC in West Bengal,” he said while undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College Hospital here. He was arrested on January 4 from Kolkata for his alleged involvement in the Rs 15,000-crore Rose Valley chit fund scam.

The 63-year-old leader fell sick for an ailment he is suffering for last two years and was shifted here late on Friday evening for a checkup and better treatment. Undergoing treatment in the central ICU of the hospital, Sudip is known to be suffering from pancreas and heart ailments.

“A team of doctors of the hospital is now attending to the patient, and his condition is stated to be normal. A bulletin about the status of his vital organs would be made available only after analysing his health reports,” said hospital superintendent Prof PC Rath, adding that a private hospital had advised him for checkup once in three weeks.

When repeatedly asked about possible involvement of any BJP MP in the chit fund scam, Bandyopadhyay refused to comment over it, saying he did not know till date as to on what charges the CBI has arrested him. “I have no idea as to how much (money) I have taken from the Rose Valley Company,” the TMC leader, who is his party’s Chief Whip in lok Sabha, said.
