As many as 223 people have died due to HIV/AIDS in Balangir district and 1,473 people, including 692 male, 267 female and 107 children are on medication for the virus.
“In Bolangir district, a total of 1,473 persons have been diagnosed as HIV positive and, out of them, 1,369 have been registered with the ART treatment here,” said CDMO Dr Daitari Sahu after flagging of an awareness rally of students, civil society members and others on the occasion of the World AIDS Day on Sunday.
Awareness among masses and precautionary measures are the best measures to check spread of HIV/AIDS, said Dr Sahu.
