Agriculture Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo has asked senior officers of the department to visit assigned districts.

They have been asked to supervise the various schemes and programmes implemented by the State Government for improvement of the status of farmers and agriculture.

Chairing a review meeting at Krushi Bhavan here, the Minister also instructed the concerned officers to discuss with field officers and workers so as to find out the difficulties in proper implementation of programmes and guide them suitably.

“The officers should make random visit to villages and GPs within the districts to verify the actual implementation. They should start the visit from June and submit report immediately after completion of the visit,” Sahoo said.

“The Directorates should also nominate their senior officers to visit the district and supervise the programme implementation related to the concerned Directorates in the district,” he added.

Notably, 10 senior officers are assigned to visit three districts each during this month.

The Minister was apprised about the programmes going on through the department and Director, Agriculture and Food Production, Director, Horticulture and Director, Soil Conservation and Watershed gave out details.

Earlier no Minister assigned such an assignment of field visit and with such directive, the Minister wants to ensure the agriculture officials to visit the field and provide first hand information to the Government, so that corrective steps can be taken.
