PNS

In what can be termed as police highhandedness, a pregnant woman has alleged that Athagarh police station IIC Padarabinda Tripathy forced her and her husband to stand in 42-degree Celsius sun for hours, pushed them down and asked her to change contents in an FIR lodged by her two days back.

Diptirekha Baral, wife of Bibekananda Rout of Viruda village under the Tigiria police station, made this allegation before mediapersons here on Friday.

According to her, she is now seven-month pregnant and is presently staying in the Ashok Nagar area here. She along with her husband went to the police station on call over an FIR lodged by her on Tuesday. IIC Tripathy forced them to stand under the open sky when the mercury was 42 degree Celsius and started scolding them with slangs. He too asked them to change the writings of the FIR. When she protested the humiliation, Tripathy pushed her violently for which she is suffering pain at her abdomen. The IIC too beat Bibekananda thrice.

Diptirekha said she has informed this to Athagarh SDPO Prakash Chandra Pal in writing and sought justice. When contacted, the SDPO said he has received a written complaint and is investigating into the matter.
