Even as fake food materials manufacturing units in Cuttack and the Bhubaneswar outskirts have raised serious public concerns, now the Brahmapur police on Thursday busted an adulterated spice making factory at Badabazaar Pandav Nagar in the city.
Acting on a tipoff, the police conducted a raid on the food processing unit and seized huge cache of adulterated spices and raw material processing machines. The unit’s owner Lingaraj Patra was operating the manufacturing unit for the last two months. He used to procure turmeric and chilli powder from outside and mix rice powder in them.
Later, he sold the items in the local market. He procured the packets and labels of branded companies from Raipur. Earlier on Wednesday, a joint squad of the Commissionerate police and Food Safety officials busted an adulterated sauce and pickle manufacturing unit at Pahala on the outskirts Bhubaneswar.
