The Commissionerate police busted an adulterated sauce manufacturing unit at the Mahavir slum in Sailashree Vihar here and arrested a person in this connection on Wednesday.
Acting on a tipoff, the cops conducted raid on a house in the slum and seized equipment and stickers of the ‘Kiran’ brand.
The accused identified as Aarta Singh is being interrogated to unearth more information about his operations, informed police. “We are trying to find out how he procured the bottles of the particular brand and where he learnt the process of preparing the adulterated sauce,” the official said..
Singh used to sell his products to small hotels and makeshift food outlets in Chandrasekharpur and Patia at a very cheap price.
The accused was operating the unit from the Mahavir slum for past six months, sources said.
