The Additional District Magistrate has been appointed as Special Officer of the Balasore Law College by the Regional Directorate of Education. The ADM will have all financial and administrative powers of the college till further orders.
The move has been hailed by intellectuals, the Balasore Bar Association as well as the alumni of the college.
It may be noted that the functioning of the college was in the eye of a storm due to certain important decisions taken by a body of a college following the death its president Himansu Das on June 6. The decisions were taken in the absence of the governing body president and secretary in a unilateral action of the college Principal, it was
alleged.
Recently, intellectuals and Baleswar bar members had drawn the attention of the Regional Director against the alleged illegal decisions and sought his intervention.
The director, following an inquiry, vested powers on the ADM.
