The Economics Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch (CB) police, which is probing the Rs239-crore Oscar chit fund scam, has prepared a list of film stars suspected to be involved in the scam for questioning.
The investigating agency has prepared the list basing on the revelations of arrested company chairman Prabhas Rout during the ongoing interrogations to him.
Sources said a team of five DSPs was formed who would interrogate the film artists, including BJD leaders.
Sources said many top actors had promoted the cause of Oscar through gala shows even in foreign countries and acted in movies produced by Rout. These actors include BJD MPs Siddhant Mohapatra and Anubhab Mohanty, BJD MlA Akash DasNayak and Tattwa Prakash Satpathy, popularly known as Papu Pom Pom, who unsuccessfully contested last Assembly elections as a BJD candidate, and a group of Ollywood heroines.
It was revealed during quizzing of Rout that many film artists were gifted expensive cars and flats. Besides, money collected from people was also invested in a water park in the State, the sources said.
Notably, the EOW has arrested Rout from New Delhi for allegedly duping investors of Rs230 crore.
Meanwhile, sources said two investigating officers (IOs) of the EOW are now interrogating Rout in the presence of expert chartered accountants about the investment of Rs230 crore in the eight Oscar Group companies.
Besides, the team is also trying to find out how much personal properties Rout has accumulated with the money of the duped investors and the black money he has stacked elsewhere.
