Basing on a complaint, the Salepur police on Wednesday registered a case and began investigating into Tuesday’s acid attack on a 22-year-old girl of Kusumbi village, 30 km from here.
Dismissing the reports that two persons had poured acid on his daughter, the girl’s father in his complaint has mentioned about only one unknown youth behind this act, said Salepur police inspector PK Majhi.
He said that while his daughter was going to attend classes at a nearby computer institute, the youth coming by a motorcycle from behind threw acid on her and fled immediately. His daughter could not identify the youth as he had covered his face with a handkerchief and wore a helmet, police added.
Meanwhile, police spoke to the victim at the SCB Medical College Hospital here for about two hours on Wednesday but could not get any clue from her to identify the accused.
