Khandagiri triple murder lone accused Sneha Swakhyar Samal has once again told the investigating officers of the Commissionerate Police that he killed Dr Atulya Chandra Meher as he prescribed expensive medicines and costly medical tests for treatment of his daughter.
Twin City Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma briefing reporters here on Friday said the accused was in tension for his financial condition after he lost his job in a company. Though he tried for a suitable job, he could not get it and, finally, opened a medicine store, he added.
In the meantime, Samal's daughter felt pain in her leg and his wife insisted him to consult with a doctor. Samal went to Dr Meher on October 3 and discussed about his daughter's condition. The doctor prescribed some medical tests and medicines. Samal did all the check-ups and went to the doctor on October 10 with all reports. But the doctor could not recognise him and even failed to recall him which created hatred in the mind of the accused. Already tensed Samal got infuriated after seeing medical bills of his daughter.
Then Samal planned the murder of the doctor and executed it on October 14 morning. But the family members of the accused refused to buy the story and said Samal could not kill three persons for a silly reason. The police are still searching proper reason behind the murder. The police would also interrogate doctor's wife and deceased caretaker's wife Runu Behera, who is undergoing treatment in a hospital, the CP said.
He further added that the police would also get some clue after going through the post-mortem report which is yet to come.
