The Commissionerate police on Friday managed to nab the accused who had brutally hacked a youth to death in front of a liquor shop at Palasuni under the Mancheswar police station on Thursday.
The arrested was identified as Hadibandhu Behera. A special squad of the Commissionerate police arrested Behera after conducting a number of raids at several places in the city with the help of the local police on Thursday night.
The police also recovered the weapon used in the crime from Behera’s possession.
Behera had reportedly indulged in a verbal duel with the victim in front of the liquor shop over some issue in Thursday afternoon. As the heated altercation escalated further, he took out a billhook and hacked the victim to death on the spot. Behera was forwarded to court on Friday, said police.
