The Technical Cell of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Monday said the violence erupted at the BPUT alumni meet here was the handiwork of the ruling BJD and demanded arrest of those responsible for it at the earliest.

“While one group of students belonging the ruling party created violence at the alumni meet, another group stated a Rasta Roko and misbehave with the public. The police stood silent. The ABVP, Technical Cell condemns this,” said cell chief Smrutiranjan Biswal.

“The Minister, who was scheduled to grace the occasion as chief guest, didn’t attend. The Minister has also not uttered a word after the incident. It seems that the Minister was behind the incident,” he said.

Alleging that Ministers and MlAs are using students to defame the BPUT, he demanded violators be arrested soon and steps be taken for making BPUT free of politics.
