AAP demands power tariff reduction

PNS

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) State unit on Saturday demanded that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik follow his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal and announce a rebate in electricity tariff.

Claiming that the party has consulted many experts from power sectors and civil society members, the party said there would be no problem if the State Government reduces the power tariff by 50 per cent.

“While business loss of power distribution companies in other States including Delhi has decreased from 60 per cent to less than 20 per cent, in Odihsa it still stands at 40 per cent which needs to be investigated and revised,” said AAP member Dhananda Mishra. The activists too threatened to intensify their agitation if the Government faild to reduce the power tariff.
