AAI to develop art gallery at city airport

PNS

With a bid to encourage and promote amateur and budding artists in the State, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has decided to develop an art gallery at the security hold area (SHA) of the New Domestic Terminal (NDTB-T1) of the Biju Patnaik International Airport here.

The AAI has invited original creations, including sculpture or any other art form, but not limited to paintings, for display inside the terminal building. The artist will have the right to put a tag ‘For Sale’ on his piece of work piece that will carry a price tag fixed on it.

Airport Director Sharad Kumar said that providing a small source of spotlight can go a long way in motivating and encouraging those who are truly gifted. Odisha has a strong lineage of artists from all genres; hence, it would not be difficult for the AAI to start-up this project at the earliest, he added.
