Locals feel proud that Shaktikanta Das, son of Kesabananda Das and Shobhamanjari of Jenapada village under Athagarh block, has been appointed as the new Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Das is the first Odia RBI Governor, who assumed charge as the 25th RBI Governor on Wednesday. He was earlier a Tamil Nadu-cadre IAS officer of the 1980 batch.
As his name for the top RBI post was declared by the Union Government after the resignation of his predecessor Urjit Patel, excited locals here congratulated him. In his reaction, Athagarh MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain has told this paper that Shaktikant Das enhanced the importance of Athagarh being selected for the post of RBI Governor.
