A total of 9,000 police personnel would be deployed in Puri during Nabakalbar Rath Yatra beginning July 18. Director General of Police said this after attending a review meeting on security and traffic in Puri held under Chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat on Tuesday.It was also revealed that a modern police control room, CCTV system and watch towers have already started working in Puri. Two platoons of the Quick Rapid Action Force would be deployed to handle emergency situations. Similarly, three interceptor boats would be put into service for coastal security. Through 20 big lED TV screens, devotees would be provided with all information relating to the Nabakalebar and traffic system.Parking system has been made at 27 places for the grand festival. While three of 16 unsafe buildings have been demolished, the rest ones have been sealed.
