The eight Thai women, detained by the Commissionerate police for being engaged in a high-profile sex racket in a spa centre in the city on May 20, were served a “quit India” notice to leave country by Thursday evening itself.

Police Commissioner YB Khurania said the notice was issued as the women, by getting engaged in flesh trade, had violated the visa rules. While some of them had tourist visa, a few others had business visa.

This move was a warning for those operating similar illegal activities in the State, said police.

Sources said similar spas operating in the State capital city are on the police scanner; and if they are found involved in illegal activities, action would be taken against them. It may be mentioned that more than 100 spas have mushroomed in the city.

Earlier on May 20, the Commissionerate police had nabbed the women and seven others following a raid on the H2O Spa at Bapuji Nagar.

In November 2017, three women from Thailand had also been detained for operating a sex racket from another spa centre at Kharvel Nagar in the city. later, they were also issued notice to leave India.
