The Society for Children rescued as many as seven minor boys from the Brahmapur railway station here while they were being trafficked to outside the State on Friday night. Members of the society, while conducting an awareness programme at the railway station, found the children sitting in a group at Platform No 1 and asked them where they were going.

The children said they were waiting for the Puri-Ahmadabad train. Subsequently, the members came to know that the minors were going to various places like Surat, Chennai, Guwahati and Kerala for work.

While six of the minors belonged to various places like Sorada, Bhanjanagar and Purushottampur in Ganjam district, the rest one belonged to the Karada area in Kandhamal district.

It may be noted that poor children from Ganjam district have been rescued many times from the stations while being trafficked by Dalals.
