As many as 7,455 Biju Yuva Vahinis (BVYs) have so far been formed and 2,62,453 volunteers selected against 7,686 BYVs and four lakh members, respectively. Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Chandra Sarathi Behera informed this in the State Assembly in response to a question of BJP MLA Dilip Ray on Saturday.
The Minister informed that the BYV volunteers have coordinated the State Government’s “Nishaku Na” (no to liquor) campaign, launched from the Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, in their respective areas by now. The BYV volunteers have vowed themselves not to consume liquors and are creating awareness against liquor consummation across the State.
The Government has targeted to spend a total of Rs 45,049 lakh for the BVY in the coming three years, the Minister informed.
