As many as 65 cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) from Odisha are stranded in Guwahati of Assam following the unrest there over the Citizens Amendment Act (CAA). Reportedly, the cadets of 2(O) Battalion of the NCC went to Guwahati to take part in a weeklong north eastern region trekking camp in Shillong of Meghalaya.

They boarded train from the city railway station on December 9 and reached Guwahati on December 11 as they were not able to reach Meghalaya due to a curfew imposed in Assam.

Initially they were accommodated at an Army camp in Guwahati and later shifted to RDC camp. Though Odisha Government is working hard to bring them back, the cancellation of trains are causing a delay. A teacher accompanying the NCC cadets said, “The cadets are safe now. Efforts are on to return to Odisha by a special train.”
