After 44 weeks of rigorous training at ITBP camp here at Tartua in Khurda, as many as 588 Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) recruits on Thursday  passed out from the centre at a passing out parade.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took the salute and reviewed the parade.

Appreciating the quality of the parade, Patnaik called upon the jawans to serve the nation with utmost zeal and dignity. “The role of ITBP in protecting the country and disaster management is highly appreciable. The centre here at Taruta will obliviously encourage the locals to join the force,” said Patnaik.

The recruits had undergone 44 weeks of training in weapon handling, map reading, drill, karate, battle craft, field craft, internal security, border security and disaster management. ITBP IG Arvind Kumar hoped that the recruits would discharge their duties in protecting the nation with all honesty and sincerity.
