The State on Tuesday registered 545 new Covid-19 positive cases in 26 districts and the State pool, with which the total tally increased to 10,25,309. Among those infected were 74 children in the age group of 0 to 18 years. In the last 24 hours, 52,675 samples were tested and the test positivity rate (TPR) was 1.03 per cent. The active cases stood at 5,587. The State had reported 444 positive cases on Monday. Out of the new 545 cases, 319 were from quarantine and 226 local contacts. Khordha district reported the day’s highest 218 cases followed by Cuttack with 73, Baleswar 47, Jagatsinghpur 37, Jajpur 20, Mayurbhanj 14, Sundergarh 11 and Bhadrak and Kendrapada 10 each, The districts which recorded below-10 cases were Jharsuguda eight, Angul seven, Ganjam and Puri six each, Deogarh four, Keonjhar , Nabrangapur, Rayagada and Sambalpur three each, Balangir two, Dhenkanal , Koraput and Subarnapur two each and Bargarh, Gajapati, Kalahandi and Kandhamal one each.
Besides, 50 cases were reported from the State pool. As many as seven more patients succumbed to the virus in the State in last 24 hours, mounting the total death toll to 8,187.
Jagatsinghpur district reported two deaths and Khordha Cuttack, Ganjam, Jajpur and Kendrapada one each. So far, 10,11,482 persons have recovered from State pool.
