Over 500 employees of the Paradeep Phosphate limited (PPl) have joined the Paradip Ersama Industrial labour Association. Though these employees were earlier involved in various labour associations, nothing has so far been done in their interest.
Now, these employees have reposed their hope in the Paradip Ersama Industrial labour Association, which is led by its president Bapi Sarkhel. Besides, Sarkhel has assured the employees to take appropriate steps for bettering their interest.
It may be noted that after becoming the president of the Paradip Port DlRs and Contractual Workmen’s Association, Sarkhel had demanded bonus for the DlRs before the port authorities, following which a notification for sanctioning of bonus to them was issued by the authorities. Earlier to this, due to Sarkhel’s effort, the salaries of the contractual workers at the IOCl depot, Goa Carbon employees and labourers working at the railway side of the Goa Carbon Company were increased by 113 per cent, 65 per cent and 75 per cent, respectively
