A five-year old girl of Kanpur village under the Rajkanika police station limits in Kendrapada district was allegedly raped by a middle-aged man of the same village on Monday evening, said Pattamundai SDPO Ram Chandra Gauda.
The girl had sat on her house verandah waiting for her mother, who had gone to take a bath in the nearby river. Her neighbour Kishore Sethi (50) forcibly took her to his house and abused her sexually, Gauda added.
later in night, the victim’s family members lodged an FIR at the police station and the police registered a case and arrested Sethi. The girl and the accused were sent for medical examination on Tuesday.
Sethi, who was produced before a court at Aul, was sent to jail after his bail plea was rejected by the court.
