After the police, it is the Crime Branch that has failed to do justice with the family of a deceased cop here.
Dillip Pradhan, a resident of Saranda village under the Attabira police limits in Bargarh district, was a police constable with Sohela police till November 17, 2008, when he was shot dead in his barrack at luhurachati check post.
Then, the Sohela police registered a suicidal case in this regard. But after the deceased’s father demanded a Crime Branch (CB) probe into the incident, the case was taken up by the investigating agency. The then CB ASP Namita Ray had also visited the spot and Pradhan’s home on December 22, 2008 for inquiry.
However, the CB is yet to ascertain the cause of Pradhan’s death. Moreover, even after five years have elapsed after the incident, compensation from the Government has eluded the deceased’s family. “The CB has also failed to probe the matter properly and give justice to the victim’s family,” allege the villages of Saranda. They have appealed to the Government to provide adequate compensation to the kin of the deceased and find out the culprits who are involved in the case.
