5 vie for M'bhanj ZP Vice-President post

While the BJP leaders, after a lot of exercise, could evolve a consensus on the name of Mayurbhanj Zilla Parishad president and Sujata Murmu finally could make it to the top ZP post some days ago, the party has not yet been able to do the same in the case of choosing the ZP vice-president in the district.

Thus at least five names are doing the rounds for the district’s second important ZP post at the moment.

Mayurbhanj, being a large district from the point of view of both area and population, has been organisationally split by the BJP into two districts: Mayurbhanj (East) and Mayurbhanj (West). At least five ZP vice-presidential aspirants are there from Mayurbhanj (West) itself.

Chhotray Marandi from zone No. 32 of Bijatala Block, Narendra Sahu, ZP member from zone No. 41 of Jashipur Block, Sunil Mohanta from zone No. 26 of Bahalda Block, Jugal Naik, winner from zone No. 6 of Karanjia Block and Guruva Murmu, ZP member from zone No. 34 in Bisoi Block, are all trying hard to occupy the ZP vice-president’s post.

BJP leaders, therefore, are now busy in hectic parleys to evolve a consensus, as the date of election for the post of ZP vice-president is fast approaching (the date being March 24). The ZP vice-president’s post, like the ZP president’s post, is also an all-BJP affair here, as the saffron party has won as many as 49 ZP zones in a ZP of 56 seats.
