Five students fell ill after being administered the Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine (JEV) in the Jogendranath Upper Primary School at Manapur, six km from here, on Thursday.
Report said the ailing students were admitted in the District Headquarters Hospital.
The condition of the students is stable and they are recovering quickly, said the DHH officials.
Sources said that the JEV drive was undertaken in the Jogendranath UP School on Thursday after students consumed mid-day meal. Soon after the JEV vaccination, one Soumya Ranjan Ojha, a Class-III student, started vomiting and went unconscious.
Later a Class-VI student Sapan Kumar Panda and girl students Rajalaxmi Parida, Archita Moharana and Subhalaxmi Mallick were seen with same symptoms and were rushed to the DHH.
The DHH officials said that all admitted students are recovering quickly and would be discharge soon.
As the JEV is an inactivated vaccine and is very effective at preventing infection, schools have given priority for administering the vaccination through the drive, which is underway in the district, added DHH officials.
